Il Lombardia closes the season the way summer ends — slowly, beautifully, painfully. From Bergamo to Como, through the chapel of the Madonna del Ghisallo, up the Muro di Sormano. The deep navy captures the colour of Lake Como at dusk; the copper horizon line and the mountain silhouette mark the moment the peloton turns toward home, and another year of racing closes.
